This week I have been focusing on my platform, The Magic of Music.
I talked to the mayor of Muscatine, Mr. DeWayne Hopkins, about making a proclamation to make the month of March the music month in Muscatine. I explained how music is a way for an individual to learn not only how to express yourself, but math, science, foreign language, and important life lessons.
After I talked to the mayor, I went to The Muscatine Journal and asked them, as well as the local radio station, to help me promote the importance of music in schools and in a child's life by holding an essay contest. This essay contest is split up into four categories and the winners of each category, will be featured in The Muscatine Journal as well as read on the radio station.
Everyday I realize how lucky I am to be involved in music and I fall even more in love with music every day. I feel so privileged to share my love and to speak out for other people who feel the same way I do. I can't wait to promote my platform even more in the future and team up with the VH1 Save the Music organization.
Although I am passionate about music, I encourage everyone to find their passion in life and to thank God for a gift and love that He has given you.
