This week I have been focusing on my platform, The Magic of Music.
I talked to the mayor of Muscatine, Mr. DeWayne Hopkins, about making a proclamation to make the month of March the music month in Muscatine. I explained how music is a way for an individual to learn not only how to express yourself, but math, science, foreign language, and important life lessons.
After I talked to the mayor, I went to The Muscatine Journal and asked them, as well as the local radio station, to help me promote the importance of music in schools and in a child's life by holding an essay contest. This essay contest is split up into four categories and the winners of each category, will be featured in The Muscatine Journal as well as read on the radio station.
Everyday I realize how lucky I am to be involved in music and I fall even more in love with music every day. I feel so privileged to share my love and to speak out for other people who feel the same way I do. I can't wait to promote my platform even more in the future and team up with the VH1 Save the Music organization.
Although I am passionate about music, I encourage everyone to find their passion in life and to thank God for a gift and love that He has given you.

Muscatine Bridal Expo 2013
Yesterday I was given the opportunity of a lifetime! The
Muscatine Journal’s very own, Jaime Weikert, invited me to Muscatine’s first
ever-bridal expo.
The bridal expo filled the Clarion with amazing decorations
and wonderful stations where you could learn about new and old traditions that
could make a bride’s wedding special. This included the Flower Shop, who is now
renting out tuxedos, and Origami Owl, which makes special lockets that you can
put charms in for you wedding party, or even yourself.
My favorite part of the whole day was emceeing the fashion
show with Isabella Blaine, Miss Muscatine 2013. We had the opportunity to talk
about the great volunteers who dedicated two whole days to the fashion show and
gave out discounts to their stores. Not only that, but we got to see beautiful
wedding dresses. We saw everything from a hot pink wedding dress to a seafoam
green bridesmaids dress to pink tuxedos. The models were amazing and they all
looked beautiful and handsome.
I am so happy to say that I got this opportunity, and I know
that I defiantly improved on public speaking over that span of time.

And So The Journey Begins...
No words can describe the feelings that I had when Jason Fechner and Jennifer Lintz announced that I was Miss Muscatine's Outstanding Teen 2013 last weekend! I am still beyond excited to be representing my hometown for the next year, but more importantly, I'm excited to work. I'm excited to be spreading my platform to the Muscatine community and working with an amazing board that I've known since I was 13 years old competing for the Muscatine pageant my first year.
I have so many people to thank for getting me where I am today, but who I need to thank the most is God. He has gave me the gift of persistence and I know without that I wouldn't be where I am today. Through the twists and turns my life has been, God has been the support I've need to help me push through it. He is the one who has guided me to be involved with this amazing organization and to spread my believes to individuals around the Eastern side of Iowa.
I can not wait to include all of you on the journey I'm about to take as Miss Muscatine's Outstanding Teen! January 20 I will be making my first appearance with Miss Muscatine, Isabella Blaine, at a bridal expo here in Muscatine. Until then I will be singing my little heart out trying to find the perfect talent song. Something that I'll also be doing is making sure that I make the Muscatine community as proud of me as they can be. I have already gotten so many encouraging advice and wonderful praise from citizens that I'm constantly smiling from ear to ear.
Thank you for all of your love and support.
